It’s called a “hot” disc for a reason. Disc herniations cause a tremendous amount of inflammation that can irritate nearby nerves and cause pain. But, did you know that inflammation is actually…a good thing? Find out more.
I constantly get asked by people who have never see a chiropractor what to expect when they go for care, and the answer is……. slightly complicated. Many people have preconceived notions as to what chiropractic care looks like and who it helps however this is based mainly off conjecture. Many chiropractic practitioners are slightly different in their approach to chiropractic care and this is an example of the ART of Chiropractic and chiropractic specialties.
The ART of chiropractic comes from years of practice and technique. Chiropractors come in all shapes and sizes. Big hands, little hands, hands with birth abnormalities and prior injures but all of these different hands react and adjust differently making up the art of chiropractic.
Chiropractic, similar to dentistry and physical therapy, doesn't have clearly defined specialities like medicine (surgical medicine, internal medicine, radiology, etc). Chiropractors have national board certifications and diplomatic certifications however their is no clear defined specialties other than focusing treatment on a certain type of patient. Some practitioners focus on family practice, other pediatrics, geriatrics, upper neck only, corrective care, functional brain/neurology, functional medicine, nutrition and sports chiropractors.
At Centered, we focus on corrective care through a multi-disciplinary practice. We integrate chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy and nutrition to help people find the underlying cause of their problem. We work to correct that underlying cause without drugs and surgery and teach patients how to get well and stay well for their entire lives. We have worked with athletes, but we also like to work with the corporate athletes aka desk jockeys, manual laborers and even kids to teach them how to get their life back from years of injury, neglect or being too busy with life that we forget about themselves and lose their health. Chiropractic has a lot of drug free solutions to help people get their life back. It is known to help with back pain, neck pain, headaches, etc but it is also shown to help with pregnant women and labor, kids with ear infections or asthma, people with digestive issues and many other ailments. We like to focus on getting you out of pain as fast as we can with many techniques and therapies (chiropractic adjustments, massage, soft tissue manual therapy, deep laser therapy, traction and spinal decompression) then we work to teach you how to get your life back with exercise and nutrition counseling (Ask us about our Six Weeks to Wellness Classes).
But before we get into trying to help you get your life back and well, below are some examples of how we deliver chiropractic adjustments at Centered. Like I said before, many chiropractors are different so we don't follow these exact ways of treatment but this paints a clear picture of how chiropractic may help.
Hope you enjoy and until next time!!
